On a chilly Monday evening in February, the field at Dominguez High School in Compton, California, is alive with activity. The lights illuminate a scene where about 30 athletes, guided by half a dozen coaches, are diligently working through footwork drills. Overseeing the session is Coach Herb Cash. In a field where innovation intersects with tradition, Herb Cash has established a distinctive presence with his company, DB Dynasty. Since its inception in 2015, DB Dynasty has emerged as a guiding light for aspiring defensive backs, offering a unique combination of technical skill enhancement and personal mentorship that distinguishes it from the competition.

Herb Cash’s journey into DB training began with a simple yet profound passion: teaching the art of playing defensive back.

“I started DB Dynasty in 2015 just out of my passion for wanting to teach the art of playing DB,” Cash explains. “I didn’t know it would grow like it has today.”

This humble beginning has blossomed into a thriving enterprise, driven by Cash’s commitment to helping young athletes hone their skills and advance their careers.

At the heart of DB Dynasty is a mission to empower young athletes. “My mission is simply to help as many kids with their skills and careers as possible,” Cash states. His approach is not just about physical training; it’s about being a part of each athlete’s journey, providing guidance and support as they navigate the challenges of competitive sports.

What distinguishes DB Dynasty from other training programs is Cash’s unique teaching style. “I think my approach and the way I explain and teach is very unique,” he notes. Cash emphasizes not only the physical skills but also the “why” behind each technique. His ability to demonstrate drills at full speed offers a visual learning experience that resonates with athletes.

Starting DB Dynasty was not without its hurdles. One of the biggest challenges Cash faced was ensuring consistent attendance from athletes with potential. “Some kids do not have the support to consistently attend sessions, which stunts their growth,” he explains. Despite these obstacles, Cash’s dedication to his mission has remained unwavering.

In today’s digital age, technology plays a crucial role in DB Dynasty’s success. “With social media, you have so much info and footage out there to see what guys are teaching,” Cash says. This access to information allows him to reach a broader audience and connect with athletes who might otherwise go unnoticed.

To remain competitive in training market, Cash emphasizes the importance of continuous learning. “Just by remaining a student of the game,” he says. As offensive and defensive strategies evolve, so too must the training techniques at DB Dynasty. Observing other coaches and adapting to new trends ensures that DB Dynasty remains at the forefront of football training.

DB Dynasty’s impact extends beyond the training field. Cash is committed to making his programs accessible, often offering free or affordable training sessions. “I am huge on giving back,” he asserts. This commitment to community engagement underscores the company’s dedication to supporting young athletes from all backgrounds.

Since its inception, DB Dynasty has celebrated numerous milestones. “Any time a guy signs a college scholarship or gets an opportunity to play professionally, it is a huge milestone for me,” Cash reflects. Over the past decade, more than 100 athletes have benefited from DB Dynasty’s training, advancing to collegiate and professional levels.

As DB Dynasty continues to grow, Cash remains focused on expanding the company’s reach. “Just to continue the formula now,” he says, emphasizing the importance of leveraging the success of his players to spread the word about the training.

Herb Cash: The Man Behind the Mission

Herb Cash’s personal journey is as inspiring as the athletes he trains. A former Juco All-American at Compton College and a two-year starter at the University of Idaho, Cash’s professional experience in the CFL and Arena Football has shaped his approach to training. Influenced by mentors like Deon Toliver and Deon Hampton, as well as his father, Harry Cash, Herb has developed a leadership philosophy centered on meeting athletes where they are, both physically and mentally.

For Cash, running DB Dynasty is a labor of love. “The grind never stops,” he admits. Balancing the business side with his passion for athlete development requires a relentless commitment to taking each day as it comes.

One of the defining moments in Cash’s career was seeing his first group of athletes contribute as college freshmen. “It showed me that I was on the correct path,” he recalls. This validation has fueled his ongoing dedication to DB Dynasty’s mission.

Cash’s motivation comes from the athletes themselves. “Just by seeing how many kids need the training,” he says. The opportunity to impact young lives keeps him inspired and energized.

For those looking to enter the sports industry, Cash offers sage advice: “Learn every day, have patience, and follow others that have been successful in the industry.” His emphasis on continuous learning and perseverance is a testament to his own journey.

Success for Cash is measured not just in wins and losses, but in the positive impact on athletes’ lives. “Just by how many kids see positive results in their games,” he explains. The gratitude from athletes and parents alike is a powerful indicator of DB Dynasty’s success.

Through DB Dynasty, Herb Cash hopes to leave a lasting legacy. “Just the future of the next generation of young men getting better,” he envisions. By empowering young athletes to become the next trainers, coaches, and businessmen, Cash is shaping the future of sports training, one defensive back at a time.
